Dune: Part Two
The greatest Sci-Fi film of all time and up there with the greatest films across all genres. Purely breath-taking at every moment. From the visuals, to the music, to the world-building, to the performances, to the plot, to the themes, to the action set pieces. Not a single thing I would change. A film I'll rewatch again and again and again for the rest of my life. I can only imagine that within Sci-Fi, this is what The Empire Strikes Back was to those in 80s.
Can't wait for Dune: Part 3/Dune: Messiah. My most anticipated film of 2026 by a good distance. I'll be incredibly interested to see what the social media discourse will be around some of the things Paul does in the next book. There's obviously some stuff mentioned in this film about the future, but I don't think people have accepted that as true, or have properly understood the scale of what Paul's empire does in Dune: Messiah (or already has done). I'll obviously be really interested to see how Denis Villeneuve chooses to approach it too. Will it be a psychological look at Paul as emperor, dealing with the blame of the jihad, or will he try and use some of the jihad to make it more action focused than the book actually is. I’m really not sure. Robert Pattinson as Scytale, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia (as we know). Greig Fraser is no longer involved either (I'll never forgive him for taking on all four beatles movies over The Batman: Part 2 and Dune: Part 3. So stupid), so that's also something to consider. There isn't a director I trust more than Denis Villeneuve right now and so I can only imagine he'll create the political Sci-Fi epic that it deserves to be.
