Klaus
Beautiful Christmas film. Anyone that ever excuses a kid's film's poor quality with the excuse "It's a kid a film. What do you expect?", needs to watch this. This shows what can be achieved through the medium of animation and child friendly story-telling. This is absolutely wonderful.
Firstly, I just think the story is so well set up. While being great all the way through, it definitely takes it's time to find it's stride, slowly setting up all the different aspects to the characters and the island. Jesper's past and his reasoning for being on the Island, the feud between the Krum's and the Ellingboe's, Alva and her aspirations as a teacher, Klaus' past and his passion for woodwork/toymaking. It purposefully spends time allowing you to understand every aspect of the story, but it makes the final hour or so as it all comes together so rewarding. It's just absolutely beautiful.
I also love how it's both a realistic and a magical take on Santa. How Klaus (Santa) get's his sleigh, the reindeer, the naughty and nice list, the 'Ho Ho Ho' Laugh. It looks at the realistic ways that Santa may have been created. However, with the ending, it also has a beautiful and magical take on the way that Santa carries on today. It's just so heartwarming.
The animation is great, the voice acting is excellent. It's a really easy watch only being 1hr 37mins. It's just a brilliantly crafted film. Up there with my favourite Christmas films. Absolutely recommended
