WALL·E
Absolutely love this film. First film I ever watched at the cinema, aged 2, and so this will always have a special place in my heart.
First, I love the themes this film explores. It feels so unique, even to this day. How it looks at the need for genuine connections and relationships, appreciating nature and looking after the earth, and not over-consuming into unhealthy food or material things. The message is really important. However, how this film does all this with such little dialogue, especially in building the brilliant relationship between Wall-E and Eve, is amazing. Their relationship, summed up by that beautiful scene of them flying through space, is so charming. (I also loved the inspiration taken from 2001: A Space Odyssey for AUTO: its a very similar character to HAL 9000 visually and in terms of motive)
Visually, its brilliant as well. In terms of animation quality, it's solid for the time and all the designs of Wall-E, Eve, all the robots, and the Axiom ship are all wonderful. As I've said about a few other Pixar films, I'm so glad this held up in 2025. Still as heart-warming and enjoyable as it was in 2008. Soundtrack is killer as well. I loved the 60s and 70s soundtrack (I've already liked the song 'Put on your Sunday clothes' on my phone). Recommended for sure.
