Yeah man this movie was incredible. The whole back half of this thing i was fully locked in on the edge of my seat. Incredibly funny too, i was laughing the whole way through which i did not at all expect to be. Plus the facial acting in this thing man… Peter Lorre’s got the craziest eyes I’ve ever seen, he was genuinely horrifying at times. And i really don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget the face on Ellen Widmann at the very end, one of the most striking images in any movie I’ve seen.
And not to be trite or too cute or whateva but the berliners’ paranoia, their (rightful) distrust of an incompetent and brutalizing police force, their hairpin trigger fear that any given person could be out to destroy them and their families… feels pretty similar to what we got going on… Just calling balls and strikes over here what do i know.
