Kneecap
“Is piléar a scaoiltear ar son shaoirse na hÉireann é gach focal Gaeilge a labhraítear.”
You may think that kneecap are just neds or junkies that want to cause violence by rapping in a for some reason controversial language but it’s actually so much more than that. They may be neds, and maybe junkies I suppose, but their main message is peace and equality.
This movie is one of the best I’ve ever seen and the message of equality is there and very prominent throughout the entire film.
People may not want to watch this because they think it might glorify the IRA and glorify the horrible things they done but it absolutely doesn’t. The quote at the very end of the movie “Maybe not firing the bullet should be the bullet” really stands out to me as this is them saying that violence is unnecessary and everyone should be equal and there isn’t a better message than that.
And also the fact that the people from kneecap play themselves is incredible as none of them had any acting experience before this.
The movie was extremely funny at some parts and I was never bored.
The first time I watched it, I gave this movie 4 and a half stars. After learning so much more about the history of Ireland, the history of the north of Ireland, and the history of the Irish language, this movie has to be a 5 star movie. It is a true masterpiece that everyone needs to watch.
Equality will always be more important than hate and division, and kneecap shows this perfectly.
