Sinners
Damn, who knew blues music could make those vampire mfs so mad??!
Guys, if you haven’t seen Sinners yet, please do. It’s my film of the year and I really thought people were overreacting about it, no they aren’t. The most original film I’ve seen in a while, and Ryan Coogler delivers one of the best horror films I’ve seen in a while, while also tackling some great themes.
An actual star-studded cast, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Sure I missed some of the dialogue, but what the story ends up being is nothing short of a masterpiece. It has blues, vampires, sex, blood, sick visuals, perfect acting; Sinners has what you’d want from a film. This is what should be done nowadays, and I honestly wish I could’ve seen this in iMax but I don’t live near a theater for sadly I couldn’t.
I really liked the clash between black culture and Irish culture, never seen anything like it and my 55% Irish appreciates that, so does my 0.2% African. Neither of those are jokes. The main plot doesn’t do a violent clash of the cultures themselves, more of a violent clash between people themselves. The vampires want to build what they believe is a utopia of their own while the regular civilians want to live what they breathe, accept their own culture and flourish in it, and Ryan Coogler is able to do it without negative light being pushed on either culture.
The final 30 minutes of this had my feeling some type of way, a way I’ve never felt before when watching a film and it solidified my 5 star rating. So much happening at once yet it all ties together to a beautiful final act, and the “post credit” scene makes it all the better.
Live, laugh, love…how strong-willed Josh Allen is. He’s a better man than me. If I had to witness my fiancée spit into Michael B Jordan’s mouth, I’d lose my shit. So good on him.
