Poor Things
After hearing all the praise for Poor Things months up to it’s release I had been dying to see it, and the bar was raised really high. I was expecting an incredibly unique film but I wasn’t sure what else was coming, but boy was it unique. I think a lot of people use that word to describe something they don’t like, but I am not. Poor Things is one of the most unique films in the most beautiful way possible. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen and manages to tell it’s story so beautifully and so creatively that I was totally enamored.
It is without a doubt my favorite film of the year and I hope it continues to get the praise it absolutely deserves. It is not only a feminist masterpiece but also a masterpiece for humanity and the will to discover life and start anew. I think people will be able to connect with Bella in countless ways and the film will mean something different to everyone who watches it. Poor Things is certainly not for everyone, it’s comedy is dry, it’s style is cranked up to 11, and overall it just isn’t the kind of film that anyone could love, but if it is up your alley then you’ll absolutely love it.
I need to see this again in theaters just to wrap my head around the whole thing. I have a lot more to say about this film but I think I’m going to wait until I see it again. Anyways it’s movie of the year and I love it so so much.
