A Clockwork Orange
After a recent re read of this book I think I can finally put what I hate about this adaption into words.
This movie has the structure of a fairytale, the acting of a fairy tale (from those like the writer by direction of Kubrick who studied fairytales to make a clockwork oranges screenplay) and the content of a horror, fairytale and borderline porno, so this movie ends up feeling like a weirdly sexual violent hybrid of a horror movie and fairytale and obviously I don’t mean this in a good way.
The book however reads as a satirical critique horror with one fairytale element that made the horror all more disturbing. Giving Alex a child, who’s the embodiment of evil an ironic Disney style punishment including dreaming about his demise, cats attacking him and of-course his return to every single person he had brutalised in the end was something that highlighted the age of Alex, immaturity/satire elements and ultimately added to our discomfort while reading these small but very noticeable components of the innocent fairytales that we watched growing up being added to a book about *the old ultraviolence*.

This could only uplift the book while the cheesy acting and added/removed fairytale components of the movie ultimately made it go down in quality.
I do love the movie tho
