The Lighthouse

Wtf???
Ok so I clearly need some rewatches and some further reading into this movie before I go on rambling about what I think it means, so I’ll avoid that. Jesus this picture is weird. I went into it knowing it would be weird but man this is way weirder than expected. Not sure where to start so I’ll go from the order of the credits: Direction was phenomenal, feels like Eggers really did literally everything he could have with the minimalist script he was given, which was also near flawless. Ok turns out I’m a phony I forget the order of the credits now so I’ll just spitball. Funny going from 12 Angry Men to this in the series, going from a film in one room, with only 12 guys, two a film with only one primary location, with only two guys. Dafoe is genius and feels like perfect casting, and I was originally a little opposed to Pattinson’s job, but I severely warmed up on him as the film progressed. I really shouldn’t have to say anything about the cinematography, frankly this might be the best looking black and white film I’ve ever seen. And when this film wants to nail it’s more horror-like aspects, it most definitely does. All and all what really gives me that 10/10 feeling rather than a 9/10 is that throughout the whole film (and especially at the end, which I won’t spoil) the film feels like an old-timey sailors tale, esssspecccialllly that final shot. That whole vibe being concluded in that way really sold me on this thing. Anyway tired and need to wake up early so imma stfu.
And for anyone who cares:
