Satantango
“What is behind me still remains ahead of me.”
Satantango hits different the second time. the first watch feels like endurance, like you’re testing yourself against it. this time i just let it happen. stopped checking the time, stopped waiting for things to “move.” and somehow it got heavier. knowing where it all goes makes everything feel worse in a quiet way. every scene drags a little longer, every silence feels more loaded. it’s like watching people already stuck in something they don’t even realize they can’t get out of. nothing really changes, but you start noticing how carefully that nothing is built. it’s bleak, yeah, but not in a dramatic way. more like a slow, dull kind of sadness that just sits there. and weirdly, it becomes almost calming after a while. like the film isn’t trying to impress you or shock you. it just exists, and you either fall into its rhythm or you don’t.
