Ex Machina
God, i love this movie. there’s so much to this.
first off, oscar isaac is INCREDIBLE. he is so good in this role and is underappreciated in general. the actor for ava is great as well.
the cinematography is PERFECT. some of the best cinematography ever to me, with the glass and reflection technique that has deeper meaning. it’s all very chefs kiss. the framing, the colors. i love it all.
the score is BEAUTIFUL. i’ve watched there will be blood, arrival and ex machina in a row, and all have gorgeous soundtracks. if i had to choose one, it would be ex machina honestly. it fits so many moods. suspense, curiosity, ethereal…its so beautiful.
overall, i love the theme of this. the ai topic has been slightly overdone, especially since we hear it daily now, but i still found it okay. the way it was taken was like no other.
there were so much layers peeled back, and i didn’t know who to trust. it shocked me that nathan was in the right in the end, and the ending is just so powerful. this movie felt so procedural and thought out. the session structure helped keep great pacing. honestly, i love this movie so much. i will probably come back to it soon.
