Criterion Spine #598 This was way ahead of its time as far as the tech psychological real v fake drama, it’s literally matrix-esque, and I’m trying to reframe from using the term surreal because we are definitely in a simulation. Again like I said with Petra Von Kant, Fassbinder is masterful in composition and blocking, I feel like he does this so well that everyone in frame becomes important, main character or not, and also the composing is very uneasy and adds to the atmosphere. With this he utilizes reflection throughout, which is experimental for then but also symbolic given the premise, and the visuals were there ofc, I think that maybe this is too fleshed out for its own good, but I heavily enjoyed the final act, overall a pleasant watch I would recommend. Also shoutout to interior design.
