Boogie Nights
As PTA's second feature film, this gives us a spectacular insight into the legendary characteristics of his directing, writing, and producing which he will develop in his later movies - and which will ultimately create his flawless legacy.
PTA is fantastic at extracting the very best performances from his cast - I mean, he managed to make Marky Mark seem like a GOOD actor in this film, unheard of.
It's no mystery that PTA is a master of utilising music in his movies, but Boogie Nights displays that skill better than any other film in Anderson's photography. The music used is essential to building tension is some vital scenes, as well as creating an even more immersive 80s LA backdrop.
An incredible insight into PTA's developing art, and generally an incredible, stylistic film.
