Sicario
Wow.
Villeneuve did an absolutely incredible job on this enthralling, gritty film.
Del Toro’s performance is so captivating, the way he is evokes secrecy, calmness and a generally sinister atmosphere is particularly spellbinding.
Blunt also has a specific charm in this film. She skilfully shapes her character throughout the movie and it is always very clear what emotions her character is feeling.
The most amazing factor in this film was the grit to it. Villeneuve does a great job of constructing an unfiltered, tense atmosphere behind all the thrilling sequences.
I was also obsessed by the way all the characters are always hiding something, and the way their respective actor’s performances suggest that - Del Toro did that specifically well for me.
Brolin also played a greatly fascinating performance. His constant sarcasm gives the grit of the film a kind of absurdity to it:
Overall, incredible - if Dune 3 doesn’t change it, this will be my favourite Villeneuve film BY FAR.
I really hope Day of Solado is as good as it’s predecessor - from what I’ve heard, it definitely isn’t.
