Lady Bird
i could genuinely write a 5000 word essay on this film.
did i cry multiple times throughout it? maybe.
i’ve watched lady bird before a couple years ago but i think i only watched half because i only remembered the scene when timothee chalemet calls her good girl.
i honestly think greta gerwig directs such an accurate and honest depiction of girlhood, especially showing the complexity and reality of mother/daughter and father/daughter relationships and but also female friendships.
not to be that girl, but christine/lady bird is one of the most relatable characters i’ve ever seen on screen (along with lorelei gilmore) - it must be the mommy issues…
so many key moments resonated almost exactly with my life, particularly family relationships between mother and father and daughter.
other thoughts:
- i really loved the very simple yet beautiful and cinematic shots throughout the whole film
- both of christine’s and julie’s boyfriends cheated on them at the same time with each other, that’s crazy
- “just because somethings ugly doesn’t mean it’s morally wrong” - god i love her so much
