Hamilton
*„If I throw away my shot, is this how you'll remember me?
**What if this bullet is my legacy?
**Legacy! What is a legacy?
**It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.
**I wrote some notes at the beginning of a song someone will sing for me.
**America, you great unfinished symphony, you sent for me.
You let me make a difference, a place where even orphan immigrants can leave their fingerprints and rise up!“*
Halfway through, I couldn't help but put it on my Top 100 favorite movie list. Hamilton is one of the best musicals I've ever seen in my entire life. How can every single lyric be so deep and meaningful? Hamilton is a literary masterpiece. Every word they sing feels like the world is ending. How is it possible that Lin-Manuel Miranda not only plays the lead role but also wrote the entire script, music, and lyrics? I swear he was writing day and night like he was running out of time. Every single song is a lyrical masterpiece.
My Shot, Helpless, Satisfied, Wait for It, That Would Be Enough, History Has Its Eyes on You, Non-stop, Burn, It's Quite Uptown, The World Was Wide Enough and Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story are my favorites. During It's Quite Uptown I cried uncontrollably.
The stage itself is constantly moving and spinning. The choreography blends with the music as if every step were its own line in the script. The lighting puts emotions on the faces that you can't ignore, even in a film recording. And the cast is outstanding. I have rarely seen an ensemble that performs so precisely and so intensely.
I want nothing more than to see this live someday.
