Scream 2

„You forget on thing about Billy looms, I fucking killed him!“ This really is a masterpiece. The acting performances are really amazing. I definitely think that Laurie Metcalf's performance is not talked about enough. What she did in the final scene is Oscar-worthy. Whether it's the screenwriting or the camera work, everything is perfect. The scene in the car where Sidney climbs over Ghostface to get out of the car is the best, most intense and suspenseful thing I've ever seen. Also, Gale's chase scene is absolutely outstanding. Wes Craven has without doubt done the best screenwriting for horror films and I can see that in every scene. This movie is also one of the proofs that the average rating of movies says not much. In comparison, the first Scream movie has a rating of 4.0, the second an average rating of 3.3 and the third movie has an average rating of 2.9. And with this differences it has to be said that all three movies are from the same director and writer, all three movies are not far apart in time, actors were not changed or anything else happened that could harm the quality of a subsequent movie. Of course you can't say that the 2nd and 3rd movie is as good as the original (the first Scream movie is a gift from angels and unsurpassable). Still, an average rating of 2.9 or 3.3 for a movie on Letterboxd is considered bad or inferior from the beginning by most people who haven't seen the movie yet.
