Gladiator
Gladiator: One of the true greats
You know this is a banger when the first time I watched it was on an airplane screen with shitty headphones and it became one of my favourite movies of all time immediately. A year and a half later, watching on a proper screen, it feels somehow more epic. I forgot how unique the editing is with the slowmos and time lapses. Still Joaquin’s best role and one of the greatest antagonists ever. The revenge felt a little less on rewatch, but I think it’s just cause I knew what to expect. Hans cooks so hard, a tiny shame that the best comes when the credits role, but we get lots of great songs throughout still. Just so epic with the Roman colleseum and the battles it’s what Ridley does best at its best. Truly breathtaking still visually. Still heartbreaking dramatically. I was very sceptical for a sequel but it’s starting my favourite upcoming actor and I can’t help but be very very excited for tomorrow when I get to finally see Gladiator 2. As for this, it’s still one of those all time films that towers over even other movies I love.
