Sinners

I already loved this movie, but this rewatch blew me away. It’s got everything: it’s fun but with a serious message behind it, it’s a horror and an action and a musical and a comedy, it’s fresh but a throwback to classic horror, it’s a sexy vampire movie where everything is sexy except for the vampires, the cast is superb without exception, the cinematography is out of this world and the score is so so good. I feel like the hype for this one - while justified (and something I’ve contributed to with the previous paragraph) - built Sinners up to a height that inevitably could never be reached in my first watch, but going in this time around gave me a deeper appreciation for everything that it’s doing.
