Amélie does not tell a story—she shows it through the mysteries of life, captured in a delightful rectangular frame so that it will never be lost. I like to think of this as a non-fiction film because I believe that somewhere hidden in the crowd, a person like Amélie exists. Indeed, the greatest thrill is driven by creativity and curiosity—which are qualities people would rarely associate with the word "thrill" itself. Isn't it fascinating?
