zendaya said to watch it three times before fully forming an opinion so that‘s what i did and now i have things to say. i was on the edge of my seat first time, second time and third time.
challengers is another masterpiece that one of our BESTS luca guadagnino shared with us and i am beyond thankful he has yet again given us the chance to explore his visionary creative mind. AND THAT SCORE!!! atticus ross and trent reznor absolutely killed it again and work so well together with luca‘s mind as a director, the camera and the cinematography. all these created so far one of the best shots of this decade, i incredibly enjoyed that one solo tashi scene after her injury, her going back to patrick and the tennis ball pov at the end. the entire film was shot perfectly and created many heart-racing moments but these three especially stood out to me the most. OH AND FOR THE SCRIPT!!! i fucking love luca and his understanding for people. how real people act, TALK, express their feelings - it‘s nice to see someone capturing these perfectly and realistically representing the way humans act.
for the storyline oh my god luca you are sick, insane but i love it. my view on it is as simple as that: they all love and hate each other in some way but ultimately it ends with patrick and art. tashi expresses the love of her life - tennis - through art who is in love with tashi but it‘s more a siren-spell type of love. for patrick it‘s more complicated but i think ultimately it‘s art even though he did love tashi. the scene in their hotel room from their younger years is extremely foreshadowing since tashi lives for a good tennis game and patrick and art are the ones who with the right push can give her that. but it is way more complicated than that also for the reason that we got not one but THREE complex characters luca i fucking love you man. i love seeing, interpreting and discussing complex characters. there were so many parallels to his former work and phenomenal acting made this even more enjoyable than it already was.
