Get Out
on second watch, i’ve come to love this even more. considering i knew the plot, i didn’t have to worry about understanding what was to come, as i already knew. so i got to appreciate this film on a deeper scale, rather than first watch. all the actors were soooo good. each playing into their role of being fucking crazy—and it was all executed so well.
however, considering it was second watch, this film is stacked full of easter eggs. ones that i, personally noticed myself was the:
“chris is dead” poster on the back of the wall at the 52 minute mark. i was just watching the film and i saw “chris” on the back, and i was like wtf why is his name there???
also, another one i’ve known for forever, is how each family member is eliminated by their own passions/hobbies.
dean (the father): he says at the start of the film, “i’m a traveller, i bring souvenirs back.” how does he die? impaled with antlers he most likely brought from some place out of town, as a ‘souvenir’.
missy (the mother): her profession is hypnosis. she hypnotises each one of her victims. how did she die? she got stabbed in the eye (presumably) in her own office that she’d do her hypnosis in.
jeremy: he was very violent. at the start, he tried to play fight with chris. and when chris was hypnotised for the final time, the man over the monitor says, “it’s better then jeremy’s methods”. now how did he die? his head was stomped in, very violently.
finally, rose: she was made to collect boyfriends so her family can ‘fix’ auction them away. how did she die? she was first shot by one of her old boyfriends, (walter) and then almost strangled by chris, her current boyfriend.
it all came full circle, which is why i love jordan peele so much. the amount of depth to his films is unimaginable, and his creativity levels go above and beyond. such a good ass film 🙌🏼🙌🏼
