Peter Pan
i believe this will always be my favorite movie ever. there has not been one film in my life that i’ve seen that has topped this. for younger me, it was the story of peter pan and never growing up but now it holds so much more. analytically, it’s the best version of peter pan i’ve seen. the beginning of the movie allows time for story building and isn’t rushed, which is beautiful. i loved the snitbits of having a narrator, it fit so perfectly well with a lot of the plot being a storyteller and IT ENDS UP BEING WENDY HOW SWEET, she will never forget peter pan and she’s making sure of it. the music is perfectly written and fits all the scenes so well and GIVE ME GOOSEBUMPS, also the soundtrack on its own is fantastic. the character writing is just so perfect. peter is cocky and confident but not overdone, just the right amount which serves him to be a very likeable character “oh the cleverness of me”. THE WAY HE LOOKS AT WENDY (after she talks about hooks ship when they initially get to neverland along when they were watching the fairies dance, plus more). him facing his feelings for wendy in the end after desperately trying to push them away and not acknowledge them the whole movie, showing a bit of growing up in a sense (the whole movie deemed love as a grown up thing sooooo …….) wendy is the perfect amount of a little girl having a foolish lil crush but also being independent and strong. ALSO THIS MOVIE IS SO ROMANTIC I WILL NEVER GET OVER IT, first love trope GAHHHH. i really love how they give mr. darling’s character some depth instead of just making him a mean father. that seems to always be a theme in every version but this makes him so much relatable and kinder (his anxiety with the socialization plus running to the window when the kids returned). obviously the colors/filters throughout this are very heavy but i honestly enjoy it, it gives it the fairytale sense of neverland which is super enjoyable. for this movie being 20 years old too, the cgi still looks pretty good and isn’t too far fetched
