Waves
An immensely brilliant film in the second act where some of the best performances and writing of loss and love take place. This film is flawed slightly in some aspects, but so are our loved ones. We accept these flaws as characteristics and traits and fall in love with them even more. Waves, especially in its first act is supposed to be typical and rough. We see everything through the closed mindset and perspective of toxic masculinity in the "A24" style that we're now use to it at this point. It's not only until Alexis' death the aspect ratio, camera and music change, bringing us out of the hyper realistic style and now we get to experience the point of the film itself. It's an experience, it's something to be endured just as life is. Almost everything happens in this film from, life on the way, to an unexpected death, newly kindled love, a married couple at turmoil, almost everything fundamental to being human happens in this film. I found this film to be very touching, and the songs whilst maybe dating the film to the late 2010s, I will never not cry to Frank Ocean's Seigfreid.
