Sentimental Value
Why didn’t our childhood ruin you?
That’s the question isn’t it. How can two people grow up in the same house, same family, but be totally affected in different ways. It’s not fair.
The scene that this quote comes from in particular is one of my favorite scenes within the film.
It is Nora and Agnes talking about their childhood and wow it is so beautifully done, the coloring, dialogue, it’s beautiful.
One of the things that really stands out to me throughout the whole film is the changing of the house. Which KILLLLLSSS ME. The house is so so so stunning and they make it so ugly and modern 😞 but I understand the symbolism and use of the change behind it- cause obviously the house is representative of memory but it still hurts.
This movie does such a wonderful job at handling complex topics such as generational trauma, troubled relationships between family members, etc
My favorite film aside from ordinary people. It’s so beautifully done and has resonated so deeply with me, so excited for whatever he decides to direct next!
ALSO the closing song, cannock chase, was such PERFECT USE OF A SONG. One of my favorite uses of music in a movie.
