HIS & HERS
it’s not that i disliked this necessarily but i didn’t finish it feeling totally overwhelmed. idk i personally love a twist when it’s shown, and implicit and then becomes materialised right before your eyes. i wasn’t a fan of a letter of confession, completely turning the plot on its head.
this had good bones but i felt like it could’ve been executed a little better
also call me stupid but i don’t understand? if lexy/catherine had nothing to do with the murders why on earth would she attack anna? just to throw the audience off the scent of the mother? it doesn’t make any sense. her character arc results in her being perceived as a psychopath who MURDERED her sister because she called her fat. then we learn that she confessed this to rachel and helen who then used it to blackmail her to do god knows what (resulting in richard slapping rachel). so then we presume that with the hatred she has for them, and the fear of that being released she kills them, and zoe too as revenge, and we assume she is about to kill anna.
BUT WHY IF NONE OF THAT IS TRUE? she DIDNT kill them! she wasn’t seeking revenge, she had nothing to do with the murders? so why scream in anna’s face and say “you lured me into the woods” and try and attack her when she presumably had no previous acts of violence or connection to this case in the slightest?
okay maybe for arguments sake, she’s defending her husband who has been attacked by anna, and she hates her. but WHY would the husband even BE MAD at anna, if he didn’t have any involvement or think that his wife had killed the people? why would he have sex with her what? I DONT GET IT.
also i cannot fathom that in any way shape or form it could be feasible that a grown woman could think that someone being raped is not that big of a deal. that whole spiel zoe went on makes zero sense.
i keep remembering things and adding to this review. i will continue to do so and read if you please.
i also thought anna’s whole character arc was so cheap. the heart to heart with jack felt so under established with no real reason why she left. it would’ve been fine if the framed it as a “i don’t know i panicked”, but they instead put their foot down and said “yes this is a plausible and real reason”. it doesn’t make sense
there were so many inconsistencies with the show. i would’ve been happy with a catherine as the villain ending. although yes i saw the twist coming from a mile away, it cemented all the information we had been given and gave lexy/catherine’s character more substance. but instead they decided to flip that on its head, with a 20 minute LETTER OF CONFESSION, which leaves holes in every character.
i retract my original statement. no i did not like this. sorry
