THE greatest detective movie ever and one of the best ever horror films. The idea itself is so impressive and not only is John Doe killing the people who are personified sins but the way he does it is sooo interesting and entertaining. The theme of dark and rain constantly is to individual and unique and you feel like you are there with them. In my opinion, Brad Pits best performance ever and Kevin Spacey is brilliant, the two of them standing off in the last 20 minutes is electric. There are some all timer scenes, to name a few, when we fist see John Doe’s face in the police building, the meal with Morgan Freeman, Gwyeth Paltrow and Brad Pitt and obviously the ending. The ending is so brilliant to me not because of the wife’s head in the box but in fact what follows. You would assume that with two more deaths, at least one of, if not both the detectives would be killed, but the wife being slaughtered is obviously shocking. And John Doe dying as a martyr completes his mission and manipulating Detective Mills to do so is brilliant. The creativity someone needs to think of this is beyond me and the original idea will always belong to David Fincher, it’s an amazing film filled with shock, intrigue, and gore.
