Cold War
Understandably overshadowed by Cuarón's Roma in 2018, but an incredible culmination of the Soviet dark aesthetic of the post-war with a touch of Wong Kar Wai's overpowering sad romantic presence. Yet, despite these similarities and inspirations, Pawlikowski possesses an originality that I almost can't fully grasp. Such a visually striking film, where music and cinematography are used so well to enhance the Shakespearian relationship between the two main characters.
