Sinners had the potential to be an incredible movie, with a potent message, great cinematography and an incredible score, it felt like a 5/5 in the making. However I think Sinners executed its message poorly, allowing simple viewpoints; this is a result of a complex idea, joined by characters who felt somewhat underdeveloped. What could’ve been even more of a commentary on culture and transcendence of human identity past time and race, ended up feeling like it was 75% of the way there. Chalamet deserved the Oscar.

Really good

Good film, Starts off very well by discussing important political and moral questions early but seems to fail to develop its initial idea and turns into a very generic action film about 40 minutes in. Doesn’t deserve Oscar’s over Marty supreme
