The Wrestler
The wrestler encapsulates a man who is so far past believing he's the best, that he genuinely knows that he isn't, throughout the film they allude to multiple opportunities to make it big and randy declines, despite knowing his time is over, randy still cannot let go and this is shown very intimately in his time away from wrestling, we see the effect of randy believing he is worth something as he breaks his daughters and Pams hearts, randy also sees these effects and reused magnificently in the final fight of the film.
Randy is never truly able to let go of wrestling, even in his time away he sill acts like he's still wrestling, he doesn't WANT to know what his identity is without wrestling as he can see how he just fucks up time and again.
The wrestler is an amazing film which dissects the act of knowing you're responsible but can't be held accountable.
