Yi Yi
even though im the one who recommended this because i knew it was so beloved, i remembered not liking it all that much personally. best choice ever.
so happy to have revisited it. this time around i loved it so much more. time and place really are everything. i can’t even remember why i didn’t enjoy my first viewing. maybe because it resonated too much and i wanted to deflect from it.
but maybe ive changed a bit since then because i was more receptive during this experience and it just flooded me completely.
as ‘slice of life’ as it gets, unreal.
been really inspired by edward yang after reading about him more this week. heavy loss to the world. i think learning more about the context of what the movie meant to him gave way for another layer of appreciation too.
also didn’t appreciate how beautiful this was before
watching this on a bigger screen and crying my eyes out in the dark after every little thing: top tier experience
arguing in the hallway with the security man with tears on my face and also tripping: bottom tier experience
my villain arc begins now unfortunately
