A prime example of loving the story along with its art. Coming out of this film, I know I will be obsessing over its style, effects, and message for the next few days. Although this movie is made of tacky, and unrealistic special effects, as well as silly, predictable deaths and horror sequences, you must learn to recognize its intentional mess. Watching House fully through, you begin to realize it’s dreamlike atmosphere, and it’s wild mix of styles. It uses hand-drawn animation, stop motion, and collages that seem playful and vibrant. It is a perfect experimental horror film and a cult classic that explores every weird, crazy, and surreal style and technique that one can want from a film.
