Oppenheimer
Notes from second Oppenheimer viewing
* From the jump, it’s clear that this is Robert Downey Jr.’s best work.
* The score is powerful and runs the entire film. Incredible.
The comparison to Amadeus* is on point.
* “It’s not about can read you music, it’s about can you hear the music.”
* In a five minute span we see Oppenheimer as a youth and then as a cocky asshole. So impressive to pull off.
* We need to bring back three piece suits.
* “He wasn’t always patient with us mear mortals.”
* Matt Damon’s introduction is so great.
* The recruiting montage is cut so well. Gives us the information in a clean way with some humor sprinkled in.
* The sex scene in the boardroom just doesn’t make sense to me.
* 5:30 am is a wild time to drop an atomic bomb.
* This movie winning the Oscar for Sound is the biggest lock ever.
* Gary Oldman as a villainous Harry S Truman was a brilliant surprise.
* How is every actor in this pitching 98 mph in every scene?
* Third act Emily Blunt gives one hell of a performance.
* Best movie since Babylon.
