Superman

probably the best superhero movie i have seen since the mcu began. the only things that hold a candle to this are the raimi spidermans and into the spiderverse but that’s animated so it doesn’t count 😁 its truly remarkable how much better this was than the previous superman adaptations. superman is a pretty hard character to make interesting while still being true to his character and i think gunn really nailed that here. the vulnerability and weakness emotionally and psychically was a great way to kick off this new DC universe !! its amazing how quirked up they are already and i really hope they keep it up, because the ridiculous nature of comics is what really makes them fun and this really captured that! they really just threw stuff at you without needing to explain it and that was great. the mcu treats the audience like complete morons and i did not get that vibe at all thru ought this. the political woke stuff was also fire and a lot more on the nose than i was expecting 💀 mr terrific and this iteration of the green lantern were great aswell. that needle drop mr fantastic scene was probably the best of the whole movie !! james gunn seriously has a special talent with the music selections man. this one only had a couple but they were perfect.  the chemistry between rachel and mr cornsweet was scarily good i would kill myself if i was married to them. that 12 minute dialogue between them near the start was lowkey kinda bold but it was one of the highlights for me.  omg also lex luther was an actual VILLAN. absolutely zero redeeming qualities and he truly did so much heinous stuff throughout this story 😭 i was worried about nicholas hoult playing him bc he looked weird bald but this is easily an S tier villan. it makes jesse eisenbergs so even worse somehow 💀  i know this has a 4.0 but the negative reviewes are so braindead 😞
