Secret Invasion
An enormous waste of time that retcons the only interesting decision made in Captain Marvel, but cowardly avoids any shake ups to the status quo.
So much potential fumbled for a boring story that makes frustratingly little sense. Fury risks world-ending calamity to salvage his own ego and only manages to succeed due to the complete ineptitude of the villain’s plans. Hard to come away from this without thinking the MCU is retroactively worse as a result of it existing.
The fact that this is the lead up to the next film, which serves as a sequel to an already underwhelming movie and two other underwhelming shows, is harrowing for this franchise. Feels like there’s a non-zero chance the MCU is scrapped before the next Avengers film, which sounds insane. We’ll have to see if they can pull out of this nosedive, but it is looking bleak my guys.
