Almost Famous
“I always tell the girls, never take it seriously. If you never take it seriously, you never get hurt…”This will always remain one of my favourite films of all time, which is why I am rewatching it as a distraction from my current emotional wreck.
Some of the more subtle themes really resonated with me on this watch — the idealisation of someone that can leave you in emotional limbo, truth vs. perception (“Was any of it real?”), the ache of the ‘almost’, and a search for understanding and belonging. Of course, music as a form of connection will always resonate with me, as well, but that theme has a different meaning for me this rewatch.
Rewatching this film almost felt like reflecting on something I can’t quite articulate — something ‘almost’. It reminded me that even in the long ache of uncertainty, there’s beauty in caring deeply and holding on to what was good — no matter how things turn out.
