Aftersun
Ever since I saw this for the first time a couple of weeks ago this film has not left my thoughts. I think this is the first time that has ever happened to me, to this extent at least. Now having the chance to see it in the cinema another time I was blown away once again.
Somehow I was blown away even more this time around, paying attention to all the details I obviously previously couldn’t. It also felt more special because it was playing at the cinema I usually go to, so it kind of felt even more personal. Seeing the cinema slowly fill up and realizing how big of a succes this movie is really made me happy.
Now about the actual movie, I just can not get enough of it. And even though except for the fact that I also went on vacation to Turkey in the mid 2000s, which I don’t even remember in the slightest, I feel such a deep personal connection to this film and this story. It somehow speaks to the deepest part of me. I almost broke down crying in the alley next to the cinema for gods sake. This film means the absolute world to me, it is somehow a place of absolute comfort and place of the deepest depths of agony at the same time. Nothing I have watched has brought me to the edge of my emotions this much.
And I can’t wait to go to the cinema next week and experience it all over again.
