*TOP 10 REASSESSMENT #4 - HER *Yeah it's odd. I still love it though fuck you I think that this is really often misinterpreted as a love story. Artifical intelligence is always just that - artificial, a weather simulator isn't actually creating a storm inside of the computer, and Samantha isn't actually in love with Ted, it just looks that way. The danger of AI is not that it will gain sentience, but that we'll be tricked into thinking that it has done so. This film could be read about a relationship where one outgrows the other, but on base level, this is a loser who tricks himself into love to heal from his divorce. And I think it conveys that story pretty well. Unlike the rest of my Top 10 Reassessments, I'm not going to compare it to the others. It's less cruel than Se7en, less clever than Get Out, and less important than La Haine. But I just like it ok La Haine: 98 Get Out: 96 Her: 96 Se7en: 95
