Poor Things
Originality is such a rare thing to be close to.
The film ended. The three of us sat there still, as the credits began to roll, as if the film were still playing and the cinema etiquette of silence still upon us. We sat still, not because the film was still playing, not because we expected some post-credits scene featuring Mark Ruffalo's transformation into Hulk, not even because the film ended on a breathtaking twist, because it didn't.
Instead we sat there and digested, slowly, independently, like three dumbfounded clownfish on display in an aquarium, waiting for our fish food to be dropped in the tank.
Many people will never know what Poor Things means to me. I'm not sure I do, fully, yet. All I am sure of was how lucky I was to be in that screening tonight.
