Superman

we caught this at the earliest possible screening and drove an hour and a half to watch it. it had James Gunn, David Corneswet, and my partner’s favorite character of all time, so I had high expectations (because if it was bad, I was gonna beat up James Gunn on my partner’s behalf. This was a national holiday for him) BUT IT DELIVERED!!! THIS is the superhero movie of the year, not Thunderbolts. Places Superman in the context of global politics in the only canon way and David Corneswet fucking bodies the role the entire time. Super fun side characters. Reminder that not all movies need to have depressing anti-heroes and that genuinely good people who want to do good still make compelling protagonists. I am indeed a DC girlie now  Community quote: “…and really, specifically, surprisingly critical of Israel.”
