Prior to watching HALLOWEEN, the only element of the film I knew about what Michael Myers. I had no idea about the plot, characters, narrative, or ending. I wasn't aware it was the first slasher film until researching it following my initial viewing.
Having now finally seen the film, I was impressed. The film revolves around a small child (Michael) who brutally murders his sister - forcing the spectator to partake in the sadistic killing using an incredible POV shot that lasts for five minutes.
The acting is solid, the story is strong (albeit slightly exaggerated), and the music and direction are incredibly executed. There is not much I can write about this film that hasn't been previously stated, but I enjoyed the film and would gladly re-watch.
The only negative I have with HALLOWEEN is with Michael, or The Shape. I found myself getting a tad 'bored' when their was a cut to him simply "standing and watching". It was very effective for the first two or three times it occurred, but afterwards felt repetitive. I was willing for the character to do more than "stand". It was only during the final act did this finally occur.
