A Taxi Driver
I want to see you again too.
Devastating and horrifying.
The film follows a taxi driver who's just trying to survive and earn money for his daughter. We see him evolve from someone who is just trying to look out for himself into a person who's not afraid to give his life for the people. This evolution is executed so well by slowly exposing him to the monstrosities done by the South Korean regime. Another brilliant performance by Song Kang-Ho.
Thomas Kretschmann also gives a masterful performance as Jürgen Hinzpeter. A reporter who travelled from Germany risking everything to expose the lies and propaganda of the South Korean regime.
An extremely well written film. It is also shot so beautifully, even though it deals with such dark topics the film isn't shy to use colors. It uses color to enhance the emotional weight the scenes carry.
Masterpiece.
