Stalker
How am I to know I don't want what I want or that I really don't want what I don't want?
Three people The Stalker, The Writer and The Professor go into something called The Zone. They want to find this room which grants your deepest desire. All three of them have different motives on why they want to go there. The Stalker never uses the room. He guides people to the room, he is satisfied with what he does so he never uses it. Him being a guide gives him purpose, that even a louse like himself can do something like this and make people happy.
The Professor wants to go to The Room to destroy it. He thinks something like this shouldn't exist, if the wrong person enters the room it can have devastating consequences.
The Writer who is my favourite out of the three wants to go to the room because he is looking for a miracle. He has everything one desires in life but he still decides to take on this perilous journey. He is fed up with his life, writing is torture for him, he hates the people who read his books. All they do is eat eat eat and want more. His life lacks purpose, his readers who he thought was helping don't really care about him. Once he dies they will go to the next author and continue consuming. He is unsure of what he actually wants by undertaking this journey, so he needs a miracle.
Ultimately none of them decide to enter the room. They were scared of their true desire and what their heart actually wanted.
What I love about the film was that it never tells you if the room is even real. Everything we know about it comes from The Stalker who may or may not be right. It is up to the viewer to decide.
Absolutely insane film and I will definitely be re-watching it in the future.
