The Odyssey
The Odyssey feels so massive. Every set is huge, the production design is just amazing. Nolan's use of practical effects really shines here, pairing that with the cinematography of Hoyte van Hoytema creates something truly stunning.
The film's sound design is also so damn good, hearing that cyclops scream was spectacular.
Ludwig Göransson's score is so damn good, he further solidifies himself as one of the best composers working today.
The performances are fine, Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway were the highlight for me. I saw many people disliking Tom Holland but I don't see it, I thought he did alright and made the most with what he was given.
One thing which I didn't like about the movie was it's pacing, it just felt so off to me. At times it felt too quick.
I also did not like the supporting characters. It is a film of such massive scale with such a large cast which causes most of the characters not getting enough screentime to actually explore them. I know it is Odysseus's journey and his story but I would have liked Nolan expanding the side characters a bit more so they don't feel so underdeveloped.
Even with its issues The Odyssey was a really good watch and I am glad I got to see it in cinemas even if it wasn't imax.
