I couldn’t wait for it to be over, and then — the last thirty minutes happened, and I realized it was the most fucking beautiful thing I’ve ever watched.
I loved so much how they finally gave such a precious and great meaning to this movie at the end. It just felt so personal to me (not in a weird way, but yk). the way they fully and unconditionally accepted each other, the match of their dark-weird-fuckedup-sides; idk, it was just so intimately charming in a weirdest yet tender way
and I see too much people hating on this because of how morally questionable the whole concept of their relationship is, but I feel like they just perfectly matched each other’s freaks and it’s not like he totally used her while she was in a vulnerable position. like? we clearly she the fact that she enjoyed everything with him, while with other masochists she just wasn’t into it (even though she was still pretty vulnerable after Edward kinda dumped her).
additionally, I definitely don’t, and honestly just can’t see it as a male gaze movie. I think it was pretty obvious that this was written by women
but yea, well, overall I just loved the way it shows how someone can love the things in you that you and all people around consider the worst in yourself, or how sometimes people are just naturally perfect pieces of puzzle for each other on a such a deep level that the surface parts of their previous lives kinda fade away and doesn’t really even matter anymore
unconditional love is just incredibly beautiful
