Whiplash
watching this got me feeling higher than any drug I've ever tried tbh
the performance, the music, the tension, the dialogues, the plot twists, everything overall was absolutely peak. I didn't get bored for a single second, I was so locked in the entire movie. it was just incredible.
and I feel like it doesn't get talked about enough, but the blood symbolism was so simple and genius at the same time. the moment when Andrew got hit by a truck and, fully covered in blood, ran into the concert hall right on time, just to end up having a mental breakdown and ruining his chances to ever again achieve Fletcher's approval (which, to him, basically meant losing any chance of ever becoming "one of the greatest"), the way he got pushed to his limits and couldn't handle it — this was just such a tragic and epic moment that was also so dramatically highlighted by his looks! I loved it.
and, well, in general every time Fletcher was pressuring Andrew and his fingers were bleeding all over the drums felt so gripping
