MY FAV MOVIE OF ALL TIME! I love the way they used the Seven Deadly Sins as a framework to explore themes of moral decay, apathy, and nihilism in a decaying city. It is structured as a modern-day morality play where the environment itself reflects the corruption of its inhabitants. The city symbolizes a limbo or hell, hence why we as the viewers never told the name of the city. The main antagonist, John Doe plays a role of a serial killer who thinks himself as a moral crusader, punishing a society that embraces apathy. I love how each of the kills were purposely meant to structured around the seven deadly sins.. With the most brutal and dehumanizing one to me would be Lust (the confession scene shall forever haunts me). The ending with "The Box" scene has to be one of the, if not the most shocking and disturbing plot twist I have ever seen that left my jaw opened as the credits started playing.. 10/10✨
