PlayTime
Playtime is one of the best critiques of consumer culture I've ever seen. Every frame is full to the brim with movement, subtle and obvious gags, rare glimpses of humanity within cold grey walls all housing opportunities for monetary gain, landmarks only seen through reflections or from a distance. It presents the transient nature of capitalism, people, things constantly moving. Items built for convenience produce the opposite. There doesn't seem to be a single productive conversation across the whole two hours. Instead people need to be somewhere else, doing something else. It's hard to sum up everything this film does right and hard to come up with drawbacks beyond personal taste. Quality.
