Anora
Not the first story where an older woman gets with a younger man and a character is named ‘Ani’ and everything goes down hill (see: Star Wars)
I digress-
I had really high expectations, as Red Rocket is one of my sleepers I watched this year. The high points in that match this, in that it’s really a film that so perfectly captures humans in their moments. Characters supersede a broad, full-film arc, and the journey is more important than the destination.
Chaotic stillness, outlandish authenticity, and somehow making me relate to characters I’d never really want to identify with; all masterfully done.
