The Father

Came to this because of Olivia and Anthony (both first ballot HOF actors to me) expecting an interesting drama in the 4-4.5 range… but oh boy I underestimated this. This worked in a similar way to Sound of Metal to me, in that it’s a fantastic slow-burning empathy driver. It is also agonizingly frustrating, and the performances are SO good. Maybe I’m just biased in my enjoyment for those two leads but it’s so good. I audibly said a few variations of “UGH” during this, and that last scene is just…. Ouch. 3 Top-172 on LB List watches in a row… 3 5’s in a row… I giving them out like candy.
